Climate change is the main topic in world disaster news today, with its increasingly obvious impact on the environment. Phenomena such as global warming, extreme weather and changing weather patterns are some of the most striking consequences. One of the most significant impacts is the increasing frequency of natural disasters, which threaten the survival of many species. Rising global temperatures are causing ice at the North Pole and South Pole to melt, contributing to sea level rise. This threatens small islands and coasts, causing habitat shifts for flora and fauna. Marine ecosystems, especially coral reefs, are also affected by rising water temperatures which cause coral bleaching, resulting in loss of biodiversity. Another impact of climate change is prolonged drought. Many regions around the world are experiencing reduced rainfall, disrupting agriculture and clean water supplies. Droughts in Africa and parts of the United States have caused crop failures, impacting food security. On the other hand, flood disasters are becoming more frequent due to increased rainfall in a short period of time, damaging infrastructure and claiming many lives. Loss of natural habitat due to deforestation and urbanization is also a significant impact of climate change. Forests, which function as carbon sinks, are now decreasing, resulting in the accumulation of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Additionally, wildlife habitats, such as the Amazon rainforest, are being disrupted, increasing the risk of extinction for many species. Climate change also contributes to the spread of disease. Increased temperatures and humidity create ideal conditions for disease vectors, such as mosquitoes, to breed. Diseases such as malaria and dengue fever have reappeared in previously uninfected areas. Mitigation efforts must be a priority in overcoming climate change. Using renewable energy, better waste management and reducing carbon emissions are important steps that need to be taken. Education about the impacts of climate change must also be improved so that society is better prepared to face this challenge. Developing policies that support sustainability is very important, both at the national and international levels. Global conventions and agreements, such as the Paris Agreement, aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and accelerate adaptation to climate impacts. The involvement of local communities in environmental conservation efforts is also very necessary. By focusing on adaptation and mitigation, the global community can create more sustainable solutions. Protecting the environment is not only the responsibility of the government, but also the wider community. Supporting green initiatives and keeping up with developments in science are critical in dealing with this situation. It is our collective duty to leave a better environment for future generations.
